Using QR Codes in the Classroom....

Have you ever wondered how to "display" a student project that can not be printed... Maybe a movie or an audio file?  QR Codes may give you the solution you have been looking for!

We will review this information in person during an after school training/meeting that I will be holding for all faculty that is interested :-)  Bring your mobile devices with a QR code loaded, so that we can produce and test our QR codes easily.

QR Code Reader Apps Available for mobile devices -

QR Code Creators Online -
  • qrcode.kaywa.com - This free online tool will generate the codes.  You can then copy them and paste them on labels, documents and even embed in your class blog.  SO EASY!
  • http://www.qrstuff.com/ - multiple input data types available to create QR codes. Also allows you so change the color of the code, they do not need to be black and white.
  •  http://www.qrhacker.com/ - not as many data types available, but this creator allows you to change colors and even put a logo in the center of the code.

Record mp3  - http://www.recordmp3.org/
Allows you to record audio directly into a computer (can not be done from an iOS device because it uses flash), it will then produce a URL that can be turned into a QR code.  It has one drawback... you can not edit the audio, it has to be done in one take, or done again as needed.

QR Voice - http://qrvoice.net/
This page will quickly create a QR code for written text and when scanned it will use text to speech technology to read the text!  SO COOL!

If you are feeling adventurous... QR Code treasure Hunt Creator

Ever wish you could be there to explain homework to students yourself?  You can with QR Codes!!!  Check this out.... http://www.dotrythisathome.com/free-resources/
You can even record your own audio or video and add that to a word document or pdf so students can listen to directions again when they arrive at home and begin homework. SO GREAT!
